Meeting Auntie Cha Cha!

If anyone wonders where I inherited my fun, silly, mischievous spirit from, meet Auntie Cha Cha:

She lives in Florida, so it took fifteen months for us to finally meet, but it was well worth the wait! We had so much fun together…

We went to Lark Toys and it was the best. day. ever!

First, we played “Who wore it better?”

Then, we enjoyed all the store had to offer…. fudge, delicious snacks, toys, books, and even a carousel ride!

After our Lark Toys adventure, we traveled to nearby Wabasha for some sight-seeing and then Nelson for ice cream!

Another highlight with Auntie Cha Cha was the Asian Infusion dinner that she prepared for the family. It was YUMMY!

Finally, after all sorts of other shenanigans throughout our week together, we took a trip to southeastern Wisconsin to see Papa Florence, Great Grandma Garcia and other family members.

Unfortunately, at the end of it all, my cuteness just couldn’t convince her to stay. Auntie Cha Cha returned to Florida and left me to be the sole entertainer of the house; I will try not to disappoint! Miss and love you, Cha Cha. MUUUUAHHH!

15 months!

On July 16, 2015 I turned 15 months old. To celebrate, my doctor invited me over to his office to hang out! I assumed we were going to play fun games, but it was a set-up. Instead, he said I had to endure 3 shots and get all sorts of measurements. I thought we did that last time I visited him. Rude! Once I was onto his dirty trick, I tried to hide behind the chair.

But, he found me. And here’s what we learned:

  • I’m 22 lbs and 13 oz, or “fashionably slim,” says Doc.
  • 2 ft, 7 inches puts me in the 57th percentile for height/length.
  • My peanut head, however, remains below average at the 27th percentile.
  • Even though I’m pretty tough, I’m still not a fan of those dang shots.

Needles, however, aren’t the only thing on my Dislike List these days. I also have a negative reaction to:

  • Watermelon (Yuck!)
  • Car washes (Scary!)
  • Life jackets (Not at all comfortable)
  • and Puppets (See photos below)

Yet, as I grow older, I also find more things to love:

  • Root beer floats (Yes, please!)
  • Pickles (I get that from Mom)
  • Fireworks (So. Cool.)
  • Ping pong balls (Throwing them across my classroom is the best)
  • Window-licking (See photo below)

So, if anyone is interested in being my best friend forever, please reference my above list of favorites.

Fun in the July sun

July is all about living the good life! Like, cruisin’ through the Chippewa Flowage and enjoying all that Hayward has to offer!

Like, all sorts of Daycare shenanigans… from getting a little dirty, to getting a little hungry, to getting a little sleepy.

Like, returning to the Pizza Farm with my Bodelson buddies!

And of course Jellystone! Warm days are meant to be spent with my main man, Yogi Bear.

This. Is. The. Life.

Mystery solved!

It’s a sandbox!!! …Homemade and built with love, sweat, and a few naughty words!

I would like to take some of the credit for helping to construct this beauty… my main job was to stay the heck out of the way… which was much harder than one might think!

My new sandbox friend is so much fun! Wanna come over and play with us? I’ll save you a seat!

8 years

Dear Nana Florence,

Today marks 8 years of missing you. Mom talks about you often, but once in a while those “memories sneak out of mom’s eyes and roll down her cheeks.”

Every time I hear about you, I’m convinced that, even if you weren’t my grandmother, you’d probably be my best friend. My partner in crime. The peanut butter to my jelly. So I hope you know, today and always, that I’ve reserved a special place in my heart for you… where beautiful stories are planted and deeply rooted in love… stories that grow stronger with the sunshine of laughter, but sometimes require the waters of cherished memories.

So we smile, we laugh, we cry, and we remember.

Best friends forever,

Welcome to summer!

Yesterday was the longest day of the year, and the official start to summer! Because mom cancelled her day job last year to show me how to do summer, this year, I know just how to fill my days….

Summers are for having friends over!

Summers are for playing on the river!

Summers are for camping!

Summers are for watching horse shows!

Summers are for eating on the deck!

IMG_9752Summers are for flip flops and root beer floats, popsicles and sprinklers. Summers are for grilling out and sleeping in. Every summer has a story. I’m going to have so much fun writing mine!!

Happy Father’s Day!

Dear Dad,

You’re oFISHally my best catch!
You sure know how to float my boat.
Thanks for teaching me the skills I need to “tackle” life!
